SEALS team unnoticed in hometown.

So the Navy Seals who killed Bin Laden dont even get recognition for doing so. In fact they are not even allowed to mention to their own familys that they were involved with Bin Ladens death.
I think that this makes sense but then it doesnt. It makes sense because the Navy SEALS are under an oath of secrecy and that applies to everything. Also there lives would be endangered if terrorist supporters knew who they are and wanted revenge.
It doesnt make sense because these heroes deserve the recognition and if they dont get it some general who stayed at a desk during the operation will claim the fame for himself. What do you think?

  1. I personally don't try to question the military. They are the experts and I trust that they know what they are doing. I do see your point though...and it is a good one.

I think that they know themselves that they are true heros...and we appreciate them whomever and wherever they are.

  2. It's so the terrorists don't know who to shoot at next time they come around. As we all know, revenge is a dish best served cold.

  4. It's got nothing to do with "just how the government is". It's pure common sense. Hell, take the "spec ops" portion out of it and even think on the basics. While I was in the USMC, we didn't run around in every bar solo telling people you were USMC, you didn't want to draw attention. First, you damn well better "stick out" anyway (bearing and all that). Second, others cut of the same cloth can just tell "we're brothers". But Third, everyone wanting to try and "prove" themselves always either trys to make friends with you, or goes overboard to stay out of your way, or the worse last case: try's something just to see how well they "measure up". Ugggh.

Now back before the media went stupid and started blabbing about Spec Ops, noone even knew about Seals or Delta or Rangers, etc. The world only knew about USMC so the #1 target of terrorists world-wide had always been Marines (thank God to little effect). Now, the #1 target list has expanded (Damn it!) It's a blow to a country's moral should an attack be effective (and the populace mentality "weak")

NOW, let's add in flat out recognition of "who is who" or "who did what". If simply attacking or worse, killing those on the #1 hit list is a blow to moral, think of the effect should you have a few that have recognition for a specific action! Both to the moral within a country as well specifically within the Unit.
